Strings Begin in Year 2

Our Year 2 students have the wonderful opportunity to learn a string instrument in the classroom. Students are invited to explore the sounds of the violin, viola, or cello, and choose an instrument to play. During lessons, they learn to play songs on their instruments, develop music theory, aural skills, and rhythmic abilities. They also perform as part of an ensemble, which enhances hand-eye coordination and social interaction.

As students develop a deeper understanding, love, and appreciation for music, we remind them that music is part of our faith as Christians. We use music to praise and worship God, and He loves it when we show our love for Him through music.

Beginner Strings Program

During the Beginner Strings Program, our young musicians achieve key learning outcomes such as:

  • Holding their instrument and bow correctly and demonstrating good posture.
  • Showing commitment by practicing five times a week.
  • Learning to read music and developing an internal sense of rhythm.
  • Performing for their peers and in a concert for parents.

It is a pleasure to see students delight in music and develop their skills, fostering a lifelong love of the Arts.
